The Team Records have been updated to reflect all of the many, many accomplishments by our swimmers this past year. And the Press Releases page highlights these achievements for each meet since last September. A permanent tribute page has been added to remind us of, and to celebrate the life of Valerie Lopez-Robinson.
April 16, 2008 Due to a previously scheduled event at the pool, there will be no practice this Friday (4/18) at Dahlgren.
April 8, 2008 North Point Practice will be moved to CSM on Wednesday and Friday this week. White Group will be from 4-4:45pm and Black Group will be from 4:45-5:55pm. Sorry for the short notice.
April 6, 2008 Coach Damon tendered his resignation to the Potomac Raiders board this week and will be leaving us at the end of April to move closer to his family. As many of you know Coach Damon lost his father last fall after a rather brief illness, and his family needs him much closer than Virginia. This has been a difficult decision for him to leave the swimmers and families of the Raiders, but we all understand and support his decision. As Coach Damon moves forward, the Raiders are also moving forward posting a notice for the position of Head Coach and preparing for the selection process of our new coach. The Raiders traditionally have held an annual awards ceremony to recognize and honor the accomplishments of the swimmers. This year we will combine this swimmer awards with a farewell party for Coach Damon. We have scheduled the 2007-2008 Awards at Barnesfield Park again at the end of this month. Raider Swimmers have had many individual achievements and accomplishments this year. This is also a time to express our appreciation and best wishes to Coach Damon. We have reserved the shelters at Barnesfield Park, which is just south of the Harry Nice Bridge over the Potomac River on US Route 301. Take the third right south of the Nice Bridge into the park and the pavilions are the first left. The banquet will start at 3pm and last until dusk on Sunday, 27 April 2008. This is the traditional pot luck dinner; the team will supply paper goods and water. Each family is asked to bring a dish to share. This meeting also has a business component. The Raider executive board encourages parent involvement in: setting goals, assessing current status, formulating plans and needs for the upcoming swim seasons. One critical action is to establish the pool of volunteers to serve in a variety of positions and assignments which are essential for a successful swim program. Additionally the team needs to continue the outstanding participation in qualifying as USA Swimming officials this coming year. Please RSVP to Raiders Swimming. Hope everyone can attend
April 1, 2008 Practice Schedule will be back to normal with the following exceptions. Dahlgren: No practice this Wednesday and Thursday (pool closure). North Point: There will be no practice on Thursday until further notice.
